  Technology can be used as an effective teaching tool for English language learners. There is a variety of research illustrating how teachers can help English language learners develop their language skills through the use of technology such as search engines, guided research, chats, blogs, and web quests among others. Teaching students to be literate is a high educational priority throughout the world. Though this area is one of our greatest priorities, it is also one of our greatest challenges. The classroom environment has changed from many years ago. Teachers face the challenges of a large population who do not speak English and have high transient rates. For this large population, becoming proficient in a new language is a very difficult transition. This process can be frustrating and sometimes painful. Es muy importante saber el tipo de estrategias de aprendizaje que queremos llevar a cabo y tener en cuenta si éstas van a ser centradas en la individualización, en grupo o centradas en el trabajo colaborativo. Como docentes debemos tomar en cuenta la imprevisibilidad que a menudo acompaña a la dinámica en grupo, ya que la relación inicial entre las personas (alumnos) facilitará o entorpecerá nuestra instrucción. Debemos saber las actitudes y aptitudes de nuestros alumnos para así llevar a cabo la adecuada estrategia en clase.
